Old Koycegiz (Köycegiz Village) : it's 5 km in the east of the present Köycegiz and a half- deserted village. The settlement near the lake was the administrative center of the region before it was deserted in 1867 due to flood. Today it's used as a holiday resort by the people of Köycegiz.
Apart from the historical mosque there are some mansion type houses. One of them, which is known as Ali Pasha mansion has an inscription and it is in good conditon. The mansion is used by the grand childen of the family.
Althought it has a tourism potential, the old Köycegiz is not known much and there aren't many accommodation facilities. It's an ideal place for those who would like to experience history in a natural village atmosphere. Especially in recent years, as an alternative to sea holiday plateau tourism has become popular. The old Köycegiz is a lovely country with its still ongoing traditions.
