Tepearasi Village

Tepearasi Village

The Village of Tepearasi which is situated on the edge of the lake between Dalyan and Köycegiz.

If you’re seeking for absolute tranquillity,  Tepearasi, a tiny village set in lush vegetation some 8 km northeast of Dalyan is the right choise.

Here you will see the protected amber forests. Amber trees are very rare in the world.

In the villages of Eski Köy and Tepearasi you will find dark-skinned people whose great grandparents had African roots.Through these Afro-Turks, a new style of building houses was spread in the region.

It consisted of a single room of which the walls were built by weaving fresh chaste tree branches between dense long poles that were driven into the soil. The roofs were made of elm covered with dried reed. The inner and outer walls were clad with a clay/straw mixture. Only the fireplace was built of stone and mud.

According to Altan Türe, Åžefik Alican reported that this type of house was still quite common in Eski Köy in the early 1950’s.
